Always a good walk around the lakes near Strausberg. We mainly talked about dogs and how we both wish to have one, which ones and how to teach them stuff. Who would have thought that this would have been my last hike without a dog …
The Jewish Cemetary of Berlin-Weißensee is the biggest still existing Jewish Cemetery in Europe with around 42 hectare (1000m x 500 m) and 116.000 graves. Unlike a lot of other cemeteries in Germany I have visited, it is still active. Since the 70s it is listed as a historic monument.
It’s a very calming, beautiful and meaningful walk in the center of Berlin.
As every year, I had my birthday beginning of January. But this year it wasn’t possible to have some friends over. So I decided to do it differently this time. I invited every one of them separately to a Covid-safe meeting, either to
- a walk at night in the city
- or a hike on the countryside
- or a video chat
And I’m still on it. It will take more than three month and it’s great. Don’t get me wrong: I could really have a party and some food with friends right now, but I had a lot of good conversations that I wouldn’t have had on a gathering with a lot of other people.
So here ist the documentation til now:
Walk in the Park with Edi
Videochat with Elke from Hongkong
Elke was “imprisoned” in her hotel room at the time. She was in quarantine for 18 days. She even had an “ankle cuff” on her arm.
Meeting Vika & Sebastian
Night hike through Tiergarten with Susanne
Night Hike along Panke with Chris
Hike around Bötzsee with Eva
Along Panke with Jonathan, Nico and Louis
To Plötzensee with Christian
Fullmoon walk through Wedding and Mitte with Jenni
In the Park with Judith, Tilman und Ilma
Night walk with Inke & Jürgen
To be continued …
With home office, I’m siting inside my apartment most of the time and to not turn crazy and move my bones a bit I going outside for extended night walks. Sometimes with friends, sometimes on my own. God, I wish to have a dog!
Finally some snow! I would really love it unconditionally if I could trust car drivers to drive cautious and safely but I can’t. So I enjoy this light and silence while I am far away from roads. Here are some pictures from our garden and from a walk in the near forest.
We went from Buckow to Dreieichen trough Stobbertal and the forest above. On our way the weather changed from sunny to foggy and we had some cool dusty forest views.
We had a rainy hike from Spitzmühle around Fängersee and Kesselsee. Surrounded by slight fog and the stillness of nature the shiny new year said hello to us tenderly.
We spent New Years Eve on the countryside and had a cold walk around the lake near our house.
We took a walk over the Wartberg hills of Buchen im Odenwald with Mam and my cousin Franzi and her dog Kia, the Aussi. One day later, it was Franzis birthday, but because of the weather I decided to leave early for Berlin and we joined her for this walk. For the first time since my arrival the sun came out and painted the landscape in shiny colors.
A walk with an old and dear friend trough the marvelous village of Hirschhorn over Neckar river. It’s so good to see people grow and change and that every change has the chance to be a powerful boost of live. At the same time walking through historic environments and knowing her since our distant school days reminds me that there is a solid foundation that can last over centuries.
